Today I went to Cabela’s with a few brothers, one of which had never been to this outstanding outdoor superstore. I had recently been told that Cabelas had a used gun section, this is something I had never noticed on my previous trips. So of course, I had to investigate. On the way to the store the boys and I shot the shit about guns and ammo, and all the stuff that we have been too busy to talk about with school in full motion. I mentioned to them that I was in the market for a double barrel shotgun, one with a wood stock for once. All my guns to date seem to have a matt black finish, something I am trying to get away from.
Upon getting inside the store we headed straight to the gun section. We first stopped off at the used gun section and took a good look at their racks. The usual Mosin Nagants, some used hunting rifles, and of course shotguns. Took a good look at some of the double barrel shotguns, and as I was doing so a gentleman stopped and informed me he had just dropped three bouble barrel shotguns off to be sold in the nearby gallery. I told him I’d take a look and after looking at a few more shotguns and rifles my boys headed over to look at ammo and I stepped into the gallery.
At first I asked about the shotguns the gentleman had mentioned to me. They were nice but I wasn’t buying that day and said I would be coming back at a later date. Turned around to leave and that is when I saw the Springfield 1903 on the rack inside the gallery. I asked the gentleman working there if I could take a look at it and he got it down. It was in very good condition, the bolt worked flawlessly and the rifling was crisp when I loooked through the barrel after removing the bolt. What was even more was the price: $800.00! I was hurting inside when the salesman told me it wouldn’t last the weekend, I knew he was right.
I told him I would love to buy it, but I had invested in three guns in the last two months. That is when he mentioned I could put 25% down now and they would hold it 60 days if I could pay for it by that time. I smiled, that was something I could easily do, and immediately began filling out the paperwork. I am so excited to soon be adding this my collection of firearms. This particular rifle has a practical as well as a sentimental value to me. It’s a very well made gun and I can’t wait to rifle a 30-06 round out of it and test its renoun accuracy!!
