So I bought my first 1911 a week ago and finally had a chance to hit up the range with it. I have to admit I am not a fan of it so far. It’s one of the best made 1911’s on the market: a Remington R1. The slide is very smooth, with no wiggle between the slide and receiver that I can tell.
However compared to both Glock handguns that I own I have to say I am not pleased with the 1911 design and performance as a whole. Following a trigger pull the gun is snappy and the barrel is soooo much longer than what I am used to. Even in the infantry the M9 didn’t seem to have that long of a barrel.
Most likely I am just gonna have to get used to how it handles. If the veterans of World War II swear by them, I suppose I just need to practice to get any good at hitting my target.
